In case you were too busy bashing up lebs in your Australian flag cape, yesterday Triple J did its annual Hottest 100. Once again, I have been disgusted beyond all comprehension at what was selected. I've always said that a better name for it would be the Hottest 100 Of December For Faggots.

To show how much better I am than the rest of the Australian public, here are my top ten tracks for last year. I FOUND these tracks on the Internet, someone else has obviously carelessly uploaded them. I have contacted each of the artists (even the dead one) and gotten their approval to link to their property ;-D

• 1. Jenny Lewis & The Watson Twins - Rise Up With Fists - Warning: country. The first verse gets me every time.
• 2. Tool - The Pot - A cracking track. I saw them a few days ago, they're older and fatter but god damn they've still got it. I think the guy next to me had his pants off for the last half.
• 3. Sarah Blasko - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - Haunting.
• 4. TV On The Radio - Wolf Like Me - Return To Cookie Mountain would have to be the best album name of the year.
• 5. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Cheated Hearts - Karen O is the Deborah Harry of the 2000s. Who cares who the other guys are.
• 6. The Rapture - Get Myself Into It - It makes me want to get up and dance. So does that Chrisco ad with the singing food cans.
• 7. Thom Yorke - Harrowdown Hill - Radiohead turned me into the man I am today. I had my doubts about Thom Yorke going solo, but this more than makes up for that Hail To The Thief atrocity.
• 8. Bright Eyes - When The President Talks To God - Political tracks are usually limited by how localised the issue is, but this track is timely and clever. For those who aren't aware, apparently God tells Bush to invade countries. BUSH IS A FACIST PIG!
• 9. The Long Blondes - Weekend Without Makeup - This is a very catchy track.
• 10. Johnny Cash - God's Gonna Cut You Down - Warning: Christian. Three years in the grave, Johnny's getting all Tupac on us. This has a horrible video clip.

Only two of those tracks made it in to the Hottest 100. Appalling. If you have a favourite song of last year, let me know in the comments.
